Touristic information 

Vienna's history dates back to the first century AD when the Romans established their military camp, Vindobona.

The city is located on the Danube River and has many beautiful attractions and museums including the Hofburg Palace, the Spanish Riding School, the Schönbrunn and Belvedere palaces and the Museum of Modern Art.

Vienna is also known as the capital of music. It has been a home to many famous composers like Johann Strauss, Franz Schubert, Haydn, Beethoven and Brahms.

Climate 

Vienna has a moderate continental climate: colder winters and warm summers, without excessive rainfall. The average temperature during the congress period is 5-15°C.

Currency and credit cards

The currency of Austria is the euro (EUR). Major credit cards (VISA, American Express, Diners and Euro/Master Card) are accepted in most shops, hotels and many restaurants. It is therefore recommended to inform of this possibility of payment before you order.

Safety tips

As in all major cities and congress venues, people should take care of their personal belongings.
It is not advised to wear your badge outside ECNP Congress activities and special events.

Shops

Opening hours vary, but in general shops are open between 10.00 and 18.00 on weekdays and Saturdays. Supermarkets are open from 08.30 to 19.30 on working days (21.00 on Thursdays), and from 08.00 to 18.00 on Saturdays.
